Coco the Boxer demonstrates her puzzle-solving abilities at the University of Kentucky Comparative Cognition Lab.
Dog Science, Inc. only funds non-invasive research that is fun for the dogs involved. Dog labs like UK’s Comparative Cognition Lab invite pets owned by members of the local community to participate in research. The dogs are privately-owned, well-loved pets with owners that value scientific investigation. Some dogs participate in single-session research in which participation takes an hour or so. Other dogs participate in long-term research which may involve them visiting the lab several days a week to learn to interact with a more technical apparatus such as a touch-screen. Do you have a dog who might enjoy participating? We encourage you to check out our links page for a list of research institutions currently working with pet dogs and contact one near you.
